Why Endometriosis Is So Often Missed

With 85% of sufferers having a disease subset called “superficial endometriosis”, which can’t be reliably imaged with ultrasound or MRI,  a diagnostic laparoscopic surgery has remained the gold standard for diagnosis. To access surgery, women endure long wait times every step of the way, from accessing specialist care, to accessing imaging studies, to waiting for diagnostic surgery. It all adds up to a near-decade long diagnostic gap – the time between first painful symptom presentation to finally receiving an endometriosis diagnosis. For patients, this means years of suffering from pelvic pain, GI issues, and fertility problems before receiving a diagnosis and care.

ENDOSURE Test - Painless, Rapid, Accurate Detection of Endometriosis

The ENDOSURE TEST is a non-invasive, 30-minute diagnostic test for endometriosis using a technique called electroviscerography (EVG), which measures gastrointestinal myoelectrical activity (GIMA) generated by muscles in the small bowel. It’s similar to an electrocardiogram (ECG), but for the gut.

The test detects the GIMA biomarker of endometriosis — a unique fingerprint of GIMA activity present only in individuals with endometriosis and/or adenomyosis (endometriosis in the wall of the uterus).

Key benefits:

  • No surgery or anesthesia
  • Results in under an hour
  • Detects deep infiltrating, ovarian, and superficial endometriosis
  • Test results are reviewed by Dr. Sam Azer, OBGYN
