Before ENDOSURE, clinicians did not have a Tier-1 rapid, accurate, non-invasive diagnostic test for endometriosis. It’s why the current gold standard for diagnosis required surgery and helps explain why the average diagnosis took 5.3 years. ENDOSURE test, by 3CPM, is authorized for sale by Health Canada (MDALL: 107153), is now accessible in Canada.

Most similar to an electrocardiogram (ECG), this simple, painless test uses electroviscerography (EVG) to detect gastrointestinal myoelectric activity (GIMA) signals unique to endometriosis sufferers.

The Endometriosis diagnosis dilemma

Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent, frequently chronic inflammatory disease associated with pelvic and abdominal pain, bloating, painful irregular bowel or urinary symptoms, and/or infertility.

Symptomatic endometriosis has an estimated population prevalence of at least 10% globally, with most experiencing significant diagnostic delays of 3 to 11 years from onset of symptoms.3  Data of at-risk populations shows that 45% of adolescents and 55% of early adults have underlying endometriosis as the cause for regular dysmenorrhea.

Until now, TIER-1 rapid diagnostic testing that supported timely diagnosis and treatment was unavailable.

Diagnostic delays

Limitations in current diagnostic tests to detect early stage disease created the need for laparoscopy, the current gold standard for diagnosis, contributing to a 5-10+ year diagnostic delay between onset of symptoms and diagnosis of endometriosis.

Mechanism of Action

Endometriosis causes unusual contractile patterns in the small bowel due to higher than normal serum levels of prostaglandins secreted by endometriosis tissues, despite disease location; peritoneal, ovarian, extra pelvic or intrauterine. While normal ranges of gut contractions are 1-12 cycles per minute (CPM) in healthy women, prostaglandins cause uncontrolled high-frequency contractions ranging from 15-200 CPM when endometriosis is present. This causes many of the painful symptoms associated with endometriosis.

During ENDOSURE testing, an electroviscerography system (EVG) objectively collects your gastrointestinal myoelectric activity (GIMA) data, then compares your GIMA to the “GIMA biomarker for endometriosis” to detect disease presence. In clinical studies, the test has 99% accuracy for those less than 36 years old and 98% accuracy for patients 36 yrs +. These finding were surgically verification, reflecting a strong ability to distinguish between positive and negative cases.1

ENDOSURE test results offer clinical decision support, when endometriosis is suspected. With testing more like an ECG, Tier 1 diagnostic testing for endometriosis is now fast, easy, safe and accurate.
